The Royal Mint introduced The Tudor Beasts Series in 2022 as the follow-up to the Queen’s Beasts Series. This collection will feature ten designs inspired by the heraldic statues that stand on the Moat Bridge at Hampton Court. Each design draws on the Tudor era’s use of symbolic imagery, with King Henry VIII often using these emblems to reinforce the Tudor dynasty’s legitimacy after the Wars of the Roses. Today, BullionMax offers the 2026 1 oz British Gold Tudor Beasts Queen’s Lion Coin for purchase.
Coin Highlights:
The lion played an important role in Tudor heraldry, especially during the marriage of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour. However, the symbol of the lion goes back even further in English history. It first appeared in English heraldry during the twelfth century and became one of the most enduring symbols in medieval heraldry. One of the earliest known uses comes from Geoffrey Plantagenet, Count of Anjou, who died in 1151 and whose tomb shows what would later become common heraldic traditions.
Each 2026 1 oz British Gold Tudor Beasts Queen’s Lion Coin comes in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. You can choose from individual flips or bulk options, including plastic tubes of 10 coins or Monster Boxes of 100 coins.
The obverse side of the 2026 British Gold Tudor Beasts Queen’s Lion Coin displays King Charles III. Created by Martin Jennings in 2022, this first official portrait of His Majesty shows him in left-profile relief without a crown.
On the reverse of the 2026 1 oz Gold Tudor Beasts Queen’s Lion Coin, you’ll find the Queen’s Lion, a heraldic figure linked to Jane Seymour. Henry VIII used this crowned lion to honor Jane Seymour when she became queen consort, and the design shows the lion holding her personal badge.
