The 1934-A series $1,000 Federal Reserve Note is among the highest denominations ever released for everyday use in the United States. Each note shows Grover Cleveland on the front and comes certified for condition. Right now, certified 1934-A $1,000 Federal Reserve Notes are available at BullionMax.
Note Highlights:
Each 1934-A $1,000 Federal Reserve Note offered here ships in a plastic currency sleeve and carries an Extremely Fine 45 designation. Notes at this level typically show only two or three heavy folds, and one fold may be horizontal. These bills may display different Federal Reserve Bank seals for any of the 12 regional banks.
The 1934-A designation marks a follow-up print run to the original 1934 series. Changes in this sub-series usually involve the signature pairings of the Treasurer of the United States and the Secretary of the Treasury. At the time, such high-value notes were mostly used for large transfers between banks and by wealthy account holders before electronic payments were common.
Obverse design details focus on the engraved portrait of President Grover Cleveland, the only U.S. president to serve two non-consecutive terms. Additional text and anti-counterfeiting elements frame the central portrait. Reverse design elements present the issuing nation and the large $1,000 denomination. The back layout emphasizes clear value markings for quick verification during high-value transactions. Production of $1,000 bills ended in 1945. In 1969, President Richard Nixon directed the withdrawal of all high-denomination notes from circulation due to concerns about misuse in organized crime and money laundering.
