The Morgan Silver Dollar was created in response to the discovery of the Comstock Lode, a major silver find in Nevada, and the passage of the Bland-Allison Act of 1878. This legislation required the U.S. government to purchase silver for minting silver dollars. The Morgan Dollar was produced from 1878 to 1904, and once again in 1921, with over 500 million coins struck during its run.
These 5 oz SilverTowne Morgan Silver Bars are newly minted in the United States by SilverTowne Mint. Each bar showcases the Morgan Dollar’s famous Liberty design on the obverse and is individually sealed in protective plastic.
On the obverse of the 5 oz SilverTowne Morgan Silver Bar, you’ll see the iconic Lady Liberty image from the Morgan Dollar. Liberty is shown in left-profile, with inscriptions of “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “LIBERTY” included. The weight and purity markings of the bar also appear on this side. The reverse design features a repeating pattern of stars, adding a classic touch to the bar.
