The Mexican Libertad bullion coin series is produced by the Mexican Mint, the oldest mint in the Western Hemisphere still in operation. First introduced in the 1980s, the series includes both gold and silver coins inspired by the design of the 1921 Gold Centenario. In 2025, the mint reduced output of Silver Libertads and did not issue any Gold Libertads. As a result, BU Silver Libertads from this year have some of the lowest mintages in the series, which may affect how easy they are to find in the future. Right now, 2025 5 oz Mexican Silver Libertad Coins in certified condition are available online at BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
These 2025 5 oz Mexican Silver Libertad Coins are offered in Mint State 70 condition. Coins with this grade display full mint luster and no visible marks or imperfections. With a mintage limited to just 200 coins, this release stands as one of the lowest in the history of the 5 oz Silver Libertad series.
The obverse of the 2025 Mexican Silver Libertad features the national coat of arms of Mexico. This design shows a golden eagle perched on a cactus while holding a serpent in its beak and talons. On coins weighing 1 oz and larger, a ring of 10 historical versions of the coat of arms surrounds the central image.
On the reverse of the 2025 5 oz Silver Libertad Coin is the figure of Winged Victory. This design, introduced in its current form in 1996, presents a three-quarter view of Victory standing on top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column in Mexico City.
Winged Victory, also known as the Angel of Independence or El Ángel, is the statue that crowns the Independence Victory Column. The monument was commissioned to mark the 100th anniversary of the start of Mexico’s War of Independence in 1810. Designed by architect Antonio Rivas Mercado, it serves as a lasting symbol of the nation’s independence and history.
