The initial mintage of the Peace dollar began in 1921 and continued until 1928. However, no coins were minted in 1929 and 1930 due to economic constraints caused by the Great Depression. Minting resumed from 1934 to 1935 to fulfill a legislative requirement that required the coinage of millions of silver dollars. The Peace dollar’s mintage years were relatively short compared to other U.S. silver dollars.
