Introducing the American Silver Eagle, the most sought-after silver bullion coin globally. Crafted annually by the United States Mint, these stunning silver coins featured static design images on both sides from 1986 to 2021. Recently, the reverse side saw a change only for the 35th anniversary in 2021. When these coins make their way from the US Mint to dealers, they come in the US Mint Monster Box, a package containing 500 silver coins. The 2012 release of American Silver Eagles marked a rare decline in mintage compared to the preceding years. After a series of record-setting mintages from 2008 to 2011, reaching a peak of 40.02 million coins in 2011, the 2012 mintage dropped to 33.742 million coins. Despite the decline, it still stood as the third-highest mintage in the history of the series at that time. Today, the 2012 release holds the seventh-highest recorded mintage in the series.
On the obverse side of all 2012 American Silver Eagles in the Monster Box, you’ll find the timeless Walking Liberty design. Created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, it features a left-profile portrait of Liberty walking towards the sun cresting a mountain on the horizon. Liberty is draped in the American flag, reaching out for the sun with her right hand while carrying branches of oak and laurel in her left.
Flipping to the reverse side, the 2012 American Silver Eagle Coins showcase the heraldic eagle design, used from 1986 to 2021. This image features a bald eagle in front-facing relief, supporting the US national shield. The eagle clutches the arrows of war in one talon and the olive branch of peace in the other.
