The Morgan Silver Dollar was first introduced in 1878 after a brief pause in silver dollar production. This iconic design came from George T. Morgan, an Assistant Engraver at the US Mint. His depiction of Lady Liberty became the face of American silver dollars, replacing the Seated Liberty design after the Coinage Act of 1873 temporarily halted the production of silver dollars.
On the obverse of the 1 oz SilverTowne Morgan Silver Bar, you’ll find a circular seal at the top that faithfully reproduces Morgan’s original Lady Liberty design. This image shows Liberty in left-profile, adorned with a Phrygian cap, coronet crown, and a laurel wreath. The reverse side of the bar features a simple, elegant repeating star pattern.
