The Australian Kangaroo Series welcomed a new addition in 2016, marking the first of two introductions. Following suit in 2018, the 1 oz Platinum Kangaroo BU coins made their debut, featuring the identical design as the silver coin, but minted with .9995 pure platinum.

Kangaroos have the ability to hop at high speeds and cover long distances in a single leap. In fact, kangaroos are known for their powerful hind legs, and they can jump up to 30 feet in a single bound and reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour. Their impressive jumping skills not only help them travel efficiently but also serve as a means of defense and escaping from predators.

In 2023, the 1 oz Platinum Kangaroo Coins showcase Queen Elizabeth II on their obverse side. This marks her final appearance on these coins after her passing in September 2022. The design depicts Jody Clark’s 2015 portrayal of the Queen at the age of 89, donning the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head.

The reverse of the 2023 Australian Platinum Kangaroo Coins showcases a red kangaroo. This design pays homage to a historic kangaroo design by Stuart Devlin, portraying the red kangaroo species in a left-profile relief, gracefully hopping along the design field. The background is adorned with stylized sun rays, creating a captivating visual composition.

2023 1 oz Australian Platinum Kangaroos are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Individuals come in capsules, with multiples of 20 in tubes and multiples of 100 in boxes. Each box holds five tubes.
