The $10 Liberty Gold Eagle was one of the longest-issued coins in American history, first introduced in 1838. These coins were in circulation until 1907 and feature some of the most iconic designs in US coinage history. Right now, Pre-33 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins in About Uncirculated condition are available from BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
Each Pre-33 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coin available here comes in About Uncirculated 50 condition. Coins with this grade have only minor wear, mainly on the highest points of the design, while still retaining much of their original mint luster. Keep in mind that we cannot guarantee a specific year of issue or design version, and if you order more than one coin, you might receive a mix of different years and designs.
Liberty Gold Eagles were struck by the US Mint from 1838 until 1907. There were two major reverse designs during this period. Coins minted from 1838 to 1866 feature the eagle without the national motto. In late 1866, following the Civil War, the US Mint added the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” to the reverse and continued with this design until the end of the series.
The obverse of the Pre-33 Liberty Gold Eagles showcases a left-profile portrait of Lady Liberty, designed by Christian Gobrecht, the 3rd Chief Engraver of the United States Mint. Surrounding Lady Liberty are 13 stars representing the original colonies, with the date mark at the bottom.
On the reverse side, these $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins depict the heraldic eagle of the United States. The eagle is shown with a national shield on its chest, clutching arrows, and an olive branch in its talons, symbolizing both war and peace. For the Type II coins, a banner above the eagle displays the national motto.
