Product Details

The Royal Canadian Mint introduced the Gold Maple Leaf Series in 1979 with a 1 oz coin. Over time, the series expanded to include several fractional-ounce options, including the 1/10 oz version. This size was among the first new weights added to the series. Today, BullionMax offers the 1991 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin.

Coin Highlights:

  • Comes with protective plastic!
  • 10th issue of 1/10 oz Gold Maple Leafs!
  • Final mintage of 322,000 coins!
  • Contains 1/10 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold.
  • The face value of $5 (CAD) is fully backed by the Canadian government.
  • On the obverse is a bust of Queen Elizabeth II.
  • The reverse features a sugar maple leaf.

The Royal Canadian Mint added the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz Gold Maple Leafs to the series in November 1982, marking the first time the series expanded beyond the 1 oz coin. Later years brought more variety, including a 1/2 oz coin in 1986, a 1/20 oz coin in 1993, and a 1 Gram coin in 2014.

Each 1991 1/10 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin available at BullionMax is housed in protective plastic. The mintage in 1991 reached 322,000 coins. These coins also feature the second portrait of Queen Elizabeth II used in the Gold Maple Leaf lineup.

The obverse of the 1991 Gold Maple Leaf showcases Queen Elizabeth II in right-profile relief. Created in 1990 by Dora de Pedery-Hunt, this design depicts the Queen at age 64 wearing the George IV State Diadem, along with earrings and a necklace.

The reverse of the coin highlights Canada’s iconic sugar maple leaf. This design, created by Walter Ott, has appeared on all Gold Maple Leaf coins since the series began in 1979.
