The $10 Liberty Gold Eagle is a significant piece of American history, first minted in 1794 by the United States Mint. Over its 139 years of circulation, the coin underwent several design changes, but the Liberty Gold Eagle (1838-1907) was the longest-running and most iconic version. Today, you can own an 1894 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coin, certified in Mint State 63 condition, from BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
The 1890s saw a high production rate for the $10 Liberty Gold Eagle, with multiple US Mint locations producing these coins. By 1894, the Philadelphia Mint took the lead, striking over 2.4 million coins after the closure of the Carson City Mint in 1893.
Each 1894 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle offered here is graded Mint State 63, which means it has a slightly impaired mint luster with some noticeable contact marks. These marks may include a few heavier flaws, but overall, the coin retains a strong appearance for its age. The coin comes encased in a protective slab for long-term preservation.
On the obverse of 1894 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins, you’ll find Christian Gobrecht’s portrait of Liberty. This design, introduced in 1838, shows Liberty in profile wearing a coronet, with 13 stars circling her image. The date of the coin is positioned at the bottom.
The reverse side of 1894 $10 Liberty Gold Eagles features the heraldic eagle, a powerful symbol of the United States. This design shows the eagle holding the national shield, arrows, and an olive branch. Above the eagle is a banner with the national motto, a feature added to this series in 1866.
