The Texas Mint stands out among US refiners by producing gold and silver bullion with .9999 purity. Alongside their Texas silver rounds, the mint offers a variety of silver and gold bars, with one of the most beloved designs featuring the interior ceiling of the Capitol Rotunda in Austin. Today, 1 oz Texas Mint Gold Bars are available from BullionMax.
Bar Highlights:
There are many significant moments in Texas history. The Battle of Gonzales, often considered the first military engagement of the Texas Revolution, occurred on October 2, 1835. Mexican authorities had given a small cannon to the settlement of Gonzales for protection against Native American raids. As tensions rose, they demanded its return. The settlers refused, fashioning a flag with a black cannon and the words “Come and Take It.” This act of defiance sparked the larger revolution that would lead to Texas independence.
These 1 oz Texas Mint Gold Bars come individually sealed in blistercards. The blisterpacks have a dark orange color and multiples of 25 bars come in Texas Mint boxes. Each card in the blisterpack features the silhouette of Texas along with the bar’s hallmarks.
The obverse of the Texas Mint Gold Bar shows the image of the Texas Capitol Rotunda. The dome of the Rotunda is 218 feet tall, taller than the dome of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Though not featured in this design, portraits of every person who has served as president of the Republic of Texas or governor of the State of Texas line the walls of the Rotunda. These portraits are displayed in chronological order. This side also features the state’s silhouette and the bar’s hallmarks.
The reverse of the 1 oz Texas Mint Gold Bar displays the silhouette of Texas in a repeating pattern. The Republic of Texas originally claimed a larger area than present-day Texas, including parts of New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming, based on the Treaties of Velasco. These claims were contested by Mexico and later adjusted when Texas became part of the United States.
