Each 2023 1/4 oz British Silver Britannia Coin is delivered in a protective plastic flip. The Royal Mint started striking 2023-dated Britannias with one final use of Queen Elizabeth II’s portrait. Since Her Majesty passed away in September 2022, the mint had only a short time to prepare the new design for King Charles III. Because of that, a limited number of 2023 coins feature the Queen before production switched over to coins with the King.
