George T. Morgan joined the US Mint in 1876 as an assistant engraver under William Barber. Originally from Birmingham, England, Morgan was trained in engraving and medal-making before moving to the US at the age of 30. His arrival came during a time when the Mint was looking to improve the look of American coins, and Morgan’s skills helped raise the standard of coin design in the country.

Each 2025 Morgan Silver Dollar Coin offered here is graded Mint State 69 and comes in a sealed plastic holder. MS69 coins are near-perfect with original mint luster and only very small flaws. These imperfections are limited to light marks or lines and are usually found outside the main focus areas. “Early Release” coins are those that reached the grading service within 30 days of the mint’s release.

The obverse of the 2025 Morgan Dollar displays Liberty, designed by George T. Morgan. She is shown from the left side, wearing a Phrygian cap with flowing hair. Her head is decorated with a laurel wreath and coronet, and 13 stars circle the outer edge of the design.

On the reverse side of the 2025 Morgan Silver Dollar is a heraldic eagle design also created by Morgan. The eagle is shown with its wings outstretched. In one claw, it holds arrows, and in the other, an olive branch, representing strength and peace together.
