Remembrance Day in the Falkland Islands carries special meaning, honoring those who died in the 1982 Falklands War. Observed each year on June 14—Liberation Day—locals mark the end of the 74-day conflict and the return of British administration. Tower Mint recognizes this day with a commemorative bullion series. Today, we’re offering the 2025 1 oz Proof Falkland Islands Silver Remembrance Day Coins at BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
On the obverse of the 2025 1 oz Proof Silver Remembrance Day Coin, you’ll find the effigy of King Charles III. This first-generation, left-profile portrait shows His Majesty without a crown, a design style now appearing on a range of Commonwealth and territorial coinage.
The reverse design of the 2025 Proof Falkland Islands Silver Remembrance Day Coin shows the Angel of Mons placing a hand on the head of a kneeling British soldier. The Angel of Mons is a figure from British Army lore during World War I, said to have offered protection and comfort to soldiers at the front.
The Falklands War began on April 2, 1982, when Argentine forces invaded the Falkland Islands, a British overseas territory in the South Atlantic that Argentina calls Las Islas Malvinas. Seeking to rally domestic support, the ruling junta led by General Leopoldo Galtieri moved to claim the islands, which had been under British administration since 1833. The fighting lasted 74 days and resulted in the deaths of 649 Argentines, 255 Britons, and three Falkland Islanders.
Each 2025 1 oz Proof Falkland Islands Silver Remembrance Day Coin ships in a presentation box and includes a Certificate of Authenticity. The proof strike combines frosted design elements with mirrored fields, and selective colorization highlights the flowers beneath the Angel of Mons on the reverse.
