Each of these 2025 1 oz Black Proof Republic of Ghana Silver James the son of Zebedee Coins is packaged in an acrylic capsule and includes a Certificate of Authenticity. These coins have a black proof finish, which results in darkened mirrored fields and frosted design elements, giving the coin a distinct appearance.

James is known in Christian tradition as the first of the apostles to be martyred. According to the Book of Acts, he was executed by King Herod Agrippa I around the year 44 CE. His death is often seen as the start of political persecution of the early church. Though the Bible provides only a brief account of his death, James later became a revered figure, especially in Spain, where he is honored as a patron saint.

The obverse of the 2025 Black Proof Silver James the son of Zebedee Coin features a portrait of King Charles III. Designed by Jody Clark, the image shows the king in a left-facing profile without a crown. Clark is also recognized for creating the final official effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
