The obverse of Mexican Libertad Coins features Mexico’s national coat of arms. This symbol can be traced back to the Codex Mendoza from 1534, which illustrated the early use of the eagle-on-cactus image tied to the founding of Tenochtitlan. The modern version shows a golden eagle perched on a cactus while holding a snake in its beak.

Each 2025 1 Kilo Mexican Silver Libertad Coin arrives inside a clear acrylic capsule for safekeeping. This 1 Kilo version debuted in 2008 and was released annually through 2012. The mint paused production in 2013 and 2014 before continuing yearly issues beginning in 2015.

On the obverse of the 2025 Silver Libertad, you’ll see the golden eagle design that represents the nation’s seal. For 1 oz and larger silver coins like this one, ten past versions of the emblem also appear in a ring around the main image.

The reverse shows the Winged Victory statue, a symbol of independence in Mexico. This artwork has been a part of the Libertad design since 1996. Victory is depicted from a three-quarter angle standing atop Mexico City’s Independence Victory Column.
