Each 2025 1/20 oz Proof Mexican Silver Libertad Coin is housed in its own protective capsule. This smallest coin in the proof series features frosted design elements against a mirror-like background. Except for a brief pause in 2012, this size has been issued regularly since 1992.

The Mexican coat of arms reflects a long and layered history, blending indigenous symbolism with modern meaning. The golden eagle—uncrowned to represent the republic—stands on a prickly pear cactus with a rattlesnake in its beak and talon. Oak and laurel branches beneath the eagle symbolize strength and honor, linking the design to classical ideals.

On the obverse side of the 2025 Proof Mexican Silver Libertad, you’ll see the current national coat of arms. This shows a golden eagle gripping a snake while perched on a cactus. Larger versions of the coin also feature a ring of historical coat of arms designs, though this does not appear on the 1/20 oz piece.

The reverse shows the statue of Winged Victory from Mexico City’s Independence Victory Column. Behind her, the volcanoes Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl rise into the distance, completing this familiar design from the Libertad series.
