Each 2025 1/2 oz Proof Mexican Silver Libertad Coin is packaged in a plastic capsule for protection. These proof coins have a distinct look, with frosted design elements and polished mirror-like fields. The obverse side of every Libertad features Mexico’s national coat of arms. This design reflects the history of the nation’s fight for independence in the early 1800s. Leaders such as Miguel Hidalgo and José María Morelos embraced earlier cultural symbols, using versions of the eagle and serpent free of colonial influence or religious elements tied to Spanish rule.

On the 2025 1/2 oz Proof Silver Libertad, the obverse shows the modern version of the national emblem. This includes a golden eagle standing on a prickly pear cactus while gripping a snake in its beak and claws. While the larger Libertad coins feature a ring of 10 historical coats of arms, this fractional-size coin displays just the current design in the center.

The reverse design on the 2025 1/2 oz Proof Mexican Silver Libertad includes the well-known Winged Victory statue. This figure stands atop the Mexican Independence Victory Column, with two volcanoes—Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl—visible in the distance behind her.
