Product Details

The American Silver Eagle is the most widely purchased silver coin in the world. To meet steady demand, the United States Mint has, at times, used additional mint facilities beyond West Point to strike enough Brilliant Uncirculated Silver Eagles. In 2020, staffing challenges, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and increased buying activity led to the Philadelphia Mint producing emergency-strike Silver Eagles. This support continued into 2021. Right now, 2021 (P) 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins in certified condition are available from BullionMax.

In 1999 and 2000, the Philadelphia Mint helped strike Brilliant Uncirculated Silver Eagles for the United States Mint. Starting in 2001, the West Point Mint became the primary production site for American Eagle coins. When demand exceeds West Point’s output, other facilities assist to help maintain supply. In both 2020 and 2021, the Philadelphia Mint once again stepped in with emergency issues to keep up with strong investor interest.

Each 2021 (P) 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coin offered here is sealed in an individual slab and features an NGC FDI X label. This label confirms the coin was received by NGC for grading within 24 hours of its release, qualifying it as a First Day of Issue specimen. The NGCX scale is a 10-point grading system designed for modern collectibles. An MS10 grade indicates a coin with a sharp strike and no visible post-production imperfections when viewed under 5x magnification.

On the obverse of the 2021 (P) Silver Eagle is the well-known Walking Liberty image. Designed by Adolph A. Weinman, the design shows Liberty walking toward the rising sun with her right hand extended. She carries branches of oak and laurel in her left arm, and the American flag is draped around her shoulders as she moves across the landscape.

The reverse of the 2021 (P) 1 oz American Silver Eagle displays the original heraldic eagle design. Adapted in 1986 by John Mercanti from earlier American coinage artwork, the image shows a bald eagle behind the national shield. The eagle holds arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, representing both strength and peace.
