No branch of the United States Mint struck more Morgan Silver Dollars over the coin’s 28-year run than the Philadelphia Mint. As the nation’s primary coining facility, Philadelphia handled major portions of Morgan Dollar output across the 1870s, 1880s, 1890s, 1900s, and into the 1920s. Alongside San Francisco, it was one of only two mints to issue the coin every year it was made. Right now, 2021 Morgan Silver Dollar Coins in certified condition are available at BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
Each 2021 Morgan Silver Dollar Coin offered here comes encapsulated in a plastic slab and carries a flawless Mint State 70 grade. Coins at this level display full, original mint luster with no visible marks. In 2021, the US Mint produced these commemorative Morgan Dollars in Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco, with Philadelphia also issuing pieces bearing O and CC privy marks in tribute to the historic New Orleans and Carson City mints. Please be aware that coins are chosen at random, and you may receive varying mint/privy marks and label styles or colors.
The Morgan Silver Dollar series began in 1878. Early production took place at the Philadelphia, Carson City, and San Francisco Mints, with the New Orleans Mint joining later and Carson City eventually closing. In the final year of the classic series, 1921, the Denver Mint also contributed to output of the Morgan Dollar.
The obverse of the 2021 Morgan Dollar Coin presents George T. Morgan’s original left-facing portrait of Liberty. Morgan is believed to have modeled Liberty after Anna Willess Williams, whose profile inspired the design used throughout the series.
The reverse of 2021 Morgan Silver Dollars depicts the heraldic eagle, a bald eagle grasping both arrows and an olive branch. The eagle faces the olive branch, signaling a national preference for peace while maintaining readiness to defend.
