John Mercanti’s heraldic eagle will be replaced by Emily Damstra’s new American bald eagle design showcasing the bird in flight.

Obverse

On the obverse side of 2021 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins is Walking Liberty. This image of Liberty was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman for the US Mint to use in replacing its aged Barber Coinage designs. This image was chosen for the US Half Dollar, a coin it would grace from 1916 to 1947. Liberty is shown walking toward the sun in this design with the American flag draped around her. The inscriptions include “Liberty,” “In God We Trust,” and “2021.”

Reverse

The reverse field of the 2021 American Eagle Silver Coins comes with the heraldic eagle of the United States design. This is the final release of the coins with the bald eagle shown in support of the US national shield. The eagle clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons, with a triangular cluster of 13 stars over its head. Inscriptions on this face of the coin read “United States of America” and “1 oz. Fine Silver – One Dollar.”
