The obverse of the 2021 1.5 oz Silver Spotted Eagle Ray Coin features a right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This design was created by Jody Clark in 2015 and began appearing on Australian coins in 2018. The Queen is shown wearing the George IV State Diadem in this sixth-generation effigy.

On the reverse side of the coin, the spotted eagle ray appears mid-swim. Its large fins curve upward, giving the impression of flying underwater. These fins are actually wide pectoral muscles that connect directly to the ray’s head, helping it glide gracefully through the sea.
