Each 2009 2 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra Coin ships in an individual acrylic capsule and belongs to the Perth Mint’s 20th-anniversary release. For 2009, the mint offered 1 kilo, 10 oz, 2 oz, and 1 oz coins. The 1 oz coin reached its full mintage of 300,000, while the 1 kilo coin followed with a mintage of 74,757.

Kookaburras are native to eastern Australia and are known for a loud call that sounds like laughter. They’ve lived on the continent for thousands of years and are common in forests and woodlands.
