On the obverse of the 1935-S Peace Dollar, Liberty is shown in left-facing relief. Her hair flows loosely behind her, and she wears a radiant crown meant to represent light. It’s said that de Francisci used his wife as the model when creating this image of Liberty.

The reverse of the coin shows a calm bald eagle sitting on a rocky perch. The eagle has its wings folded and holds an olive branch in its claws, while gazing toward the rising sun. This peaceful scene reflects the message of hope that the Peace Dollar was meant to convey.

Over the course of the Peace Dollar’s run, the design of the eagle went through some changes. The first version in 1921 was struck in high relief, giving the details a bolder look. In 1922, the Mint switched to a lower relief to make production easier, which made the design appear softer. Despite the adjustment, collectors appreciate the eagle’s image for its thoughtful symbolism tied to the postwar era.

Each of these 1935-S Peace Silver Dollars is certified in About Uncirculated 58 condition. These coins show medium to nearly full luster, with only light wear visible on the highest points of the design.
