First issued in 1878, the Morgan Silver Dollar is one of the most recognized silver dollar designs in the United States. Created by US Mint Assistant Engraver George T. Morgan, the series marked the return of silver dollar coinage after a five-year pause. Right now, 1882-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins in certified condition are available at BullionMax.

  • Issued a grade of Mint State 65 by the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • Lady Liberty on the obverse.
  • Heraldic eagle on the reverse.

Each 1882-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coin offered here is graded Mint State 65. At this level, coins show attractive mint luster with light, scattered contact marks and no major flaws in the primary focal areas. Overall eye appeal for an MS65 piece is considered very pleasing.

In 1882, the Carson City Mint struck 1,133,000 Morgan Dollars, one of its stronger outputs for the series. Coins from this facility carry the distinctive “CC” mint mark and were produced while the nearby Comstock Lode silver mines were still active. The 1882-CC remains a favorite for collectors who focus on Carson City issues. While not the rarest date from this mint, it reflects solid production from a well-known Western branch mint.

The obverse of the 1882-CC Morgan Dollar Coin features George T. Morgan’s left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap symbolizing freedom, along with a laurel wreath and a coronet. Thirteen stars encircle the design to represent the original colonies, with inscriptions completing the layout.

The reverse design of the 1882-CC Morgan Silver Dollar presents Morgan’s version of the heraldic eagle. The bald eagle appears without a national shield, holding the arrows of war in one talon and the olive branch of peace in the other, with inscriptions arranged around the image.
