In partnership with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), the Texas Mint has created a silver round series that recognizes the organization, its competitors, and the traditions of rodeo. Each piece holds 1 troy oz of .999 fine silver and features a reverse-proof finish. Now, 1 oz Reverse Proof Texas Mint PRCA Bareback Riding Silver Rounds are available online at BullionMax.
Round Highlights:
On the obverse, the Reverse Proof Texas Mint PRCA Bareback Riding Silver Round presents the PRCA emblem: a shield with a mounted cowboy and the association’s initials at the lower right. A braided-rope border frames the artwork, and inscriptions note the PRCA’s full name along with the metal content, purity, and weight.
For the reverse of the 1 oz Reverse Proof PRCA Bareback Riding Silver Round, the design shows a rider in the middle of a bareback run. Scoring in this event totals 100 points from two judges—up to 25 points each for the horse and up to 25 points each for the rider. To start a qualified ride, the cowboy must “mark out” by keeping both spurs in contact with the horse’s shoulders as the front feet hit the ground on the first jump from the chute. Judges evaluate the rider’s spurring form, control, and rhythm as spurs move from shoulder to rigging in time with the bucking, while the horse is judged on power, speed, and bucking style.
Bareback riding is widely considered the most physically demanding roughstock event. Riders must stay on a bucking horse for eight seconds using only one hand on a leather rigging and maintain proper spur motion throughout the ride. The rigging, which resembles a suitcase handle, is cinched around the horse’s withers. With the rider’s palm facing up inside the grip, success depends on upper body strength and core balance. Unlike saddle bronc events, there are no reins or a saddle for extra stability.
These 1 oz Reverse Proof Texas Mint PRCA Bareback Riding Silver Rounds are packaged individually in a capsule, set inside a presentation box, and covered by a PRCA-themed outer sleeve. The reverse-proof quality creates frosted fields with polished design details for clear contrast.
