There’s a brand-new run of Silverbacks for collectors, and this one focuses on the powerful gods said to dwell on Mount Olympus. In Greek mythology, the Olympian deities guided (and sometimes complicated) both divine and human life with a mix of authority, emotion, and rivalry. The first issue in the Legends of Olympus Series features Hades. Right now, 1 Hades Silverback Silver Notes are available from BullionMax.
Note Highlights:
Each 1 Hades Silverback Silver Note is offered individually in a plastic currency sleeve, with bulk options available in packs of 100 notes. These Silverbacks are among the smallest fractional-silver products available today, containing just 1/1000 troy ounce of .999 pure silver in each note. As the opening release in the Legends of Olympus Series, this issue begins a collection centered on famous Olympian figures from Greek mythology.
Hades is sometimes left off lists of the traditional twelve Olympians because he ruled from the underworld rather than living on Olympus. Even so, he was one of the three most powerful gods of his era, sharing victory over the Titans with his brothers Zeus and Poseidon. While modern stories often cast him as a villain, many ancient sources present Hades as strict but balanced—an unshakable ruler who rarely left his realm and generally avoided meddling in the lives of mortals.
On the obverse, you’ll see Hades shown in a commanding pose as he holds the leash of Cerberus, the infamous guardian of the underworld. In Greek belief, the realm of the dead was also called Hades, a vast underground kingdom where every soul traveled after death, no matter their status in life. Cerberus, the three-headed hound, was said to stand watch at the entrance, allowing spirits to enter while preventing any from escaping.
The reverse design features a mirrored version of the main image, creating a matching presentation of the central artwork from the front of the note.
