The silver Australian bottlenose dolphin coin is struck in four-nine (0.9999) fine silver by the Perth Mint. The obverse side shows two bottlenose dolphins leaping high above the waves and facing each other, forming a heart shape. Dolphins often symbolize love and compassion and are among the most intelligent creatures on the planet. And, of course, bottlenose dolphins are native to the waters around Australia (particularly the Great Barrier Reef), which makes them a suitable subject for Perth Mint to celebrate.

On the reverse side, we can see Jody Clark’s side profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II along with weight, purity, and face value. The letter P marks the Perth Mint as the mint of origin. Each coin has a face value of $2 AUD, although striking the coins in 99.99% pure silver makes for a significantly higher value.
