Debuting in 1979, the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf quickly gained recognition as one of the most trusted gold bullion coins worldwide. Following only the South African Krugerrand in terms of uninterrupted mintage, the Maple Leaf has built a strong legacy over nearly five decades. Originally issued in a single size, the series now features six different weights each year. The 1 oz coin remains the leading option, but fractional sizes like the 1/4 oz are also widely sought after. Today, you can find the 2026 1/4 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins available online at BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
The obverse of the 2026 1/4 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin introduces King Charles III on Canadian coinage. Designed by Canadian artist Steven Rosati, the portrait shows the King facing left, without a crown. This is only the third time that a Canadian artist has created a monarch’s portrait for national coinage, making it a notable change for the series.
The reverse of the 2026 Gold Maple Leaf continues with Walter Ott’s well-known sugar maple leaf design. First seen in 1979, this detailed engraving has become a defining feature of the Maple Leaf program. It appears not only on the gold coins but also across the silver, platinum, and palladium issues.
In nature, sugar maple leaves shift through a vibrant life cycle. They begin as bright green in the spring and summer months, when chlorophyll levels are high. This pigment supports photosynthesis, giving the tree energy while keeping the leaves their vivid green shade. Only later in the season do the leaves reveal the other colors that signal autumn’s arrival.
Each 2026 1/4 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin is offered here in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Coins are available individually in sealed plastic or in groups of 20 within sealed plastic sheets. The 1/4 oz option has been part of the Maple Leaf lineup since 1982, joining a series that continues to expand year after year.
