First issued by the United States Mint in 1986, the American Gold Eagle bullion series has been a steady annual release ever since. By 2026, the program reaches 40 years in production, and the Mint marks the milestone with the familiar Gold Eagle designs across its lineup of 22-karat gold coins. Right now, 2026 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle Coins in certified condition are available from BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
The 1/4 oz Gold Eagle has been struck mostly at the West Point Mint over the years, with proof and uncirculated versions adding extra interest for collectors. As part of the broader Gold Eagle family, this quarter-ounce option has long served as a practical middle size, sitting between the smaller 1/10 oz coin and the larger 1/2 oz piece.
All 2026 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle Coins offered here come sealed in individual slabs and are certified in perfect condition. Coins graded MS70 show full, original mint luster with no visible flaws. The First Strike designation applies to coins that were submitted and received for grading within 30 days of the Mint’s official release.
The obverse of the 2026 American Gold Eagle features the well-known Lady Liberty design created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. First used on the $20 Double Eagle, this classic full-length image shows Liberty stepping forward with confidence, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left.
On the reverse of the 2026 1/4 oz Gold Eagle is the modern bald eagle portrait by Jennie Norris. Introduced in 2020 and first appearing on coins in 2021, the design presents a crisp left-profile view of the eagle’s head, highlighting strong detail in the feathers and eye.
