American Gold Eagle bullion coins first arrived from the United States Mint in 1986 and have been struck every year since, adding up to 40 straight years of releases by 2026. To mark the 40th anniversary of the Gold Eagle Series in 2026, the Mint is keeping the familiar 22-karat gold lineup and returning with the same iconic designs collectors know well. Right now, 2026 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle Coins in certified condition are available from BullionMax.

Coin Highlights:

  • Arrives in a plastic slab!
  • 40th anniversary of the Gold Eagle Series!
  • Limited availability of certified coins!
  • Contains 1/4 troy oz of actual gold content.
  • Bears a face value of $10 (USD) backed by the federal government.
  • Issued a Grade of Mint State 69 by the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • First Strike.
  • Lady Liberty is depicted on the obverse.
  • American bald eagle on the reverse.

Each 2026 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle Coin offered here has been graded MS69, placing it in near-perfect Mint State condition. You can expect strong, original mint luster and only a tiny number of light imperfections. Any marks are very small—such as faint contact ticks or hairlines—and must sit outside the main focal areas of the design. A First Strike designation means the coin was received by the grading service within 30 days of the mint’s official release.

The 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle fills a useful role in the bullion world. Its smaller size makes it a practical choice for buyers who want gold in more divisible amounts, whether they’re starting out or adding variety to a larger stack. Because fractional coins require more detailed production per ounce, they typically carry a higher premium than 1 oz pieces. Even so, they remain popular for their flexibility and lower upfront cost compared to full-ounce options.

For the obverse of the 2026 American Gold Eagle, the coin showcases Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ famous Lady Liberty design from 1907. Originally created for the $20 Double Eagle, this classic image shows Liberty stepping forward with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, with rays of sunlight behind her.

The reverse of the 2026 1/4 oz Gold Eagle features Jennie Norris’ modern bald eagle portrait. First introduced in 2021 following the 2020 redesign, this artwork presents a close-up, left-profile view of the eagle’s head with crisp, lifelike detail.
