The American Gold Eagle is the official gold bullion coin from the United States Mint. First introduced in 1986, this coin series turns 40 years old in 2026. Each year, the mint offers a range of sizes, including the 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz versions. The 1/4 oz Gold Eagle has been a consistent part of the series since its beginning and continues to provide a trusted option for gold buyers. Today, BullionMax offers 2026 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle Coins online.
Coin Highlights:
The obverse of 2026 1/4 oz Gold Eagle Coins carries a design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Originally created in 1907, this full-length portrait of Lady Liberty shows her striding forward with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. This classic artwork is one of the most recognized images in American coin design.
On the reverse side of the 2026 American Gold Eagle, you’ll find the updated bald eagle design introduced in 2021. Created by Jennie Norris, this image captures a close-up, left-profile view of the eagle’s head, showcasing the bird’s strength and detail. This reverse replaced the earlier family-of-eagles design to mark the series’ 35th anniversary.
Though the 1/4 oz Gold Eagle is sometimes less discussed than the 1 oz or 1/10 oz versions, it’s remained available every year since 1986. Like the 1/2 oz Gold Eagle, this coin saw its highest mintage during its debut year. Interest in these fractional-ounce coins tends to increase during times of financial uncertainty, but none have matched the initial release numbers.
Each 2026 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. BullionMax ships these coins individually in plastic flips or in acrylic tubes of 40. While the other sizes in the Gold Eagle lineup have face values that match their fractional weights, the 1/4 oz coin is unique in this regard, with a $10 (USD) face value that doesn’t scale as cleanly as the others.
