Created by Jennie Norris, this image captures a close-up, left-profile view of the eagle’s head, showcasing the bird’s strength and detail. This reverse replaced the earlier family-of-eagles design to mark the series’ 35th anniversary.

Though the 1/4 oz Gold Eagle is sometimes less discussed than the 1 oz or 1/10 oz versions, it’s remained available every year since 1986. Like the 1/2 oz Gold Eagle, this coin saw its highest mintage during its debut year.
