First introduced in 1979, the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf quickly became one of the most trusted gold bullion coins in the world. It has been issued every year since, second only to the South African Krugerrand in continuous production. Originally struck in one weight, the series has expanded to six different sizes, with the 1 oz coin being the most widely collected and traded. Today, BullionMax offers the 2026 1/2 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Sheets.
Coin Highlights:
Each 2026 1/2 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Sheet contains 10 coins packaged securely in a sealed sheet. The full sheet holds five troy ounces of 24-karat gold. Please note that these coins are sold only in multiples of 10.
Sugar maple trees are well known for producing helicopter-like seeds, called samaras, which can travel several hundred feet when carried by the wind. Still, their spread is slower than that of other maple types, as they rely heavily on specific climate and moisture conditions.
The obverse of the 2026 1/2 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf shows the first Canadian effigy of King Charles III. This left-facing portrait, designed by Canadian artist Steven Rosati, presents the King without a crown. Rosati’s contribution is only the third time a Canadian artist has created a monarch’s likeness for national coinage.
On the reverse, the coin showcases Walter Ott’s sugar maple leaf design. First introduced in 1979, this detailed image has become the defining feature of the Maple Leaf series and is now used on gold, silver, platinum, and palladium issues in the collection.
