Please note this is a PRESALE item and is expected to ship on or around January 30th, 2026. ALL orders containing this product will be held from shipping until at least January 30th, 2026. This ship date may vary slightly as it is wholly dependent upon the mint meeting their production schedule.

The year 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of the American Gold Eagle bullion series from the United States Mint. First released in 1986, this program brought back regular US gold coin production for the first time since 1933. Though these coins are not meant for everyday commerce, they are legal tender in the United States. Over the decades, Gold Eagles have become a popular choice with investors who like holding gold to help balance their portfolios during uncertain economic times. Right now, 2026 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coins in certified condition are available from BullionMax.

Coin Highlights:

  • Comes with a protective plastic slab!
  • 40th-anniversary date in the Gold Eagle Series!
  • Limited availability of certified perfect coins!
  • Contains 1/2 troy oz of actual gold content.
  • The face value of $25 (USD) is backed by the US government.
  • Graded Mint State 70 by the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • First Day of Issue.
  • Lady Liberty is on the obverse.
  • An American bald eagle is on the reverse.

The 1/2 oz Gold Eagle debuted in 1986 along with the 1 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz sizes. Since that first year, the US Mint has struck all sizes of Gold Eagles annually to meet investor interest. Even so, mintages for the 1/2 oz option have risen and fallen depending on market conditions. Events such as the Y2K worries, the Great Recession, and the COVID-19 pandemic helped shape demand and production totals over time.

Each 2026 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle offered here is a perfect MS70 coin. That grade means the piece shows full, original mint luster without visible flaws. The First Day of Issue label notes that the coin was received for grading within 24 hours of its official release by the mint.

On the obverse of the 2026 American Gold Eagle Coin is Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ classic Lady Liberty image, originally seen on the $20 Double Eagle. Liberty appears in full stride, holding a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. Sun rays spread behind her, the U.S. Capitol sits near her feet, and a ring of stars frames the design along the edge.

The reverse of the 2026 1/2 oz Gold Eagle Coin features the modern bald eagle portrait introduced in 2020 and designed by Jennie Norris. This close-up view focuses on the eagle’s head, showing crisp detail and a clean, updated look for America’s national symbol.
