The reverse of 2026 American Gold Eagles features the updated bald eagle design introduced in 2020. Created by Jennie Norris, this image gives a close-up view of the eagle’s head. The detail in the feathers and facial features gives the design a clean, modern look that stands out on the coin.

The 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle debuted in 1986 along with the 1 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz options after the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985 authorized the series. Struck in 22-karat gold, each coin contains one-half troy ounce of gold and carries a $25 face value.
