The Tower Mint’s annual Pitcairn Islands HMS Bounty Series returns in 2026 with a special design detail. To mark what would have been the 100th birthday of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, each coin in the 2026 HMS Bounty Series features a QEII 100 privy mark on the obverse. On these pieces, the privy mark appears to the right of the bust of His Majesty King Charles III. Today, 2026 1/2 Gram Pitcairn Islands Gold Bounty Coins are available at BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
HMS Bounty was a small ship of the British Royal Navy, purchased in 1787 and converted for a voyage to carry breadfruit plants from Tahiti to the West Indies as an inexpensive food source for enslaved people. Under the command of Lieutenant William Bligh, the Bounty left England in December 1787 and reached Tahiti in October 1788. The crew remained there for about five months while they gathered and prepared the breadfruit plants.
All 2026 1/2 Gram Pitcairn Islands Gold Bounty Coins arrive in protective flips and come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. This release marks the third year of the Pitcairn Islands Bounty Series, and the 1/2 gram gold coin is the smallest option available in this collection.
On the obverse of 2026 Pitcairn Islands Gold Bounty Coins, you’ll see a left-facing bust of King Charles III. This first-generation portrait of His Majesty, created by Glyn Davies, shows the king without a crown. The obverse also includes the QEII 100 privy mark, a small detail honoring the 100th birthday of Elizabeth II.
The reverse of 2026 1/2 Gram Gold Bounty Coins shows the HMS Bounty under sail. The ship’s long stay in Tahiti on its first major voyage, together with Bligh’s strict leadership style, helped lead to one of the most well-known mutinies in naval history on April 28, 1789. After the crew seized control and set Bligh and 18 loyal sailors adrift, Fletcher Christian and eight mutineers, along with several Tahitian men and women, eventually settled on remote Pitcairn Island in 1790 to avoid being found.
