The American Gold Eagle program marks its 40th anniversary in 2026. As the United States Mint’s leading gold bullion series, the Gold Eagle has been a dependable choice since it debuted in 1986. From the start, the Mint offered four sizes: a 1 oz coin alongside three fractional options. Through the years, the 1/10 oz Gold Eagle has stayed the most popular of the fractional weights. Each American Gold Eagle is struck in 22-karat gold with 91.67% purity. Right now, 2026 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle Coins in certified condition are available from BullionMax.

Coin Highlights:

  • Arrives in a protective slab!
  • 40th anniversary of the American Gold Eagle!
  • Limited availability of certified perfect coins!
  • Contains 1/10 troy oz of actual gold content.
  • Bears a face value of $5 (USD) backed by the federal government.
  • Issued a Grade of Mint State 70 by the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • First Day of issue.
  • On the obverse is Lady Liberty.
  • The reverse features the American bald eagle.

Each 2026 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle Coin is housed in a durable slab and graded MS70. Mint State 70 pieces are considered flawless examples, showing full original mint luster with no visible marks or distractions. First Day of Issue coins are those that were submitted to PCGS for certification within 24 hours of the coin’s release by the mint.

The 1/10 oz Gold Eagle is typically produced at the West Point Mint, with proof and burnished versions adding another layer of interest for collectors beyond standard bullion strikes. After nearly four decades of steady production, this small-size Gold Eagle has built a strong reputation as a practical investment choice and a comfortable entry point for new precious metals buyers.

The obverse of the 2026 American Gold Eagle features Lady Liberty in the well-known Saint-Gaudens style. Originally created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907, the design shows Liberty in full-length, front-facing relief. She steps forward confidently with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. Behind her are the U.S. Capitol Building, rising sun rays, and a ring of stars that completes the scene.

On the reverse of the 2026 1/10 oz Gold Eagle is the modern bald eagle design. Introduced in 2021 during the series’ 35th-anniversary refresh, Jennie Norris’ artwork presents a bold left-profile view of a bald eagle’s head in detailed relief.
