The American Gold Eagle marks a big milestone in 2026 as the series celebrates its 40th anniversary. First released by the United States Mint in 1986, the Gold Eagle has grown into one of the most recognized gold bullion coins in the country. The program has always featured four sizes: a 1 oz coin and three fractional options. Of those fractionals, the 1/10 oz Gold Eagle remains a favorite for collectors and investors who want a smaller, more affordable piece of gold. Each coin is struck in 22-karat gold with a purity of 91.67%. Right now, 2026 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle Coins graded by PCGS are available from BullionMax.

Coin Highlights:

  • Comes with an individual slab!
  • 40th-anniversary date for the American Gold Eagle!
  • Limited availability of certified coins!
  • Contains 1/10 troy oz of actual gold content.
  • The face value of $5 (USD) is backed by the US government.
  • Graded Mint State 69 by the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • First Strike.
  • Lady Liberty is depicted on the obverse.
  • An American bald eagle is featured on the reverse.

In 2021, the 1/10 oz Gold Eagle debuted a new reverse design by Jennie Norris. This updated look features a close-up portrait of a bald eagle and added security details, bringing a fresh modern style to the series while keeping the classic feel collectors expect. Even with the redesign, the Mint preserved the well-known Saint-Gaudens obverse, helping the coin stay tied to America’s numismatic tradition.

All 2026 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle Coins offered here are graded Mint State 69. Coins at this grade show strong, original mint luster and have no more than two small imperfections. Any marks are minor, such as tiny contact marks or faint hairlines, and they appear away from the main design elements. First Strike coins are those submitted to PCGS within 30 days of the Mint’s initial release.

The obverse of the 2026 American Gold Eagle features Lady Liberty in Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ timeless 1907 design. Liberty strides forward toward the viewer with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. Behind her are the U.S. Capitol Building, sunrays, and a ring of stars framing the scene.

On the reverse of the 2026 1/10 oz Gold Eagle, you’ll find the modern bald eagle portrait introduced in 2021. Created by Jennie Norris, the design shows the eagle’s head in left-profile relief, offering a sharp and detailed close-up that stands out in the series.
