Each 2025 1 oz American Gold Eagle is sealed inside a Blue Eagle Card that adds a commemorative touch. The card features the image of a bald eagle in silhouette on the back. On the front, you’ll find a brief history of why the bald eagle was chosen as the national emblem of the United States.
American Gold Eagles are made with 22-karat gold. The United States Mint uses a special alloy that sets these coins apart from similar 22-karat pieces. Instead of using only copper to strengthen the coin, the Mint blends 91.67% gold with 5.33% copper and 3% silver for added durability and a distinctive finish.
The obverse side of the 2025 Gold Eagle includes a classic image of Lady Liberty created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907. It shows Liberty in full figure, walking forward with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. Behind her, you’ll see sun rays, the U.S. Capitol Building, and a ring of stars circling the outer edge.
On the reverse, the coin displays a modern portrait of the American bald eagle. Designed by Jennie Norris in 2020, this artwork shows a close-up of the eagle’s head in left-profile relief. It was first introduced in 2021 to mark the 35th anniversary of the American Eagle series.
