The reverse of the 2011-W Proof American Gold Eagle features Miley Busiek’s family of bald eagles. A female eagle rests in the nest with the young, while a male eagle glides overhead carrying an olive branch. Introduced for the Gold Eagle program in 1986, this design is closely tied to the series’ early years.

Saint-Gaudens’ Liberty is widely regarded as a standout in U.S. coin art. The design shows Liberty striding forward with a torch and an olive branch, her robes flowing to suggest motion. Commissioned during Theodore Roosevelt’s push to improve American coinage, it moved away from static imagery toward a more active, artistic style.
