Each 2009 1/10 oz Proof Mexican Gold Libertad Coin available here is packaged in a protective plastic capsule. These coins have frosted design elements with mirrored background fields. The mintage for the 1/10 oz coin in 2009 was 600, which matches the mintages for the 1/20 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1 oz versions. The 1/4 oz coin had a larger mintage that year with 1,700 coins produced.

The Mexican Mint introduced the Gold Libertad series in 1981 with BU coins, while Proof versions debuted in 1983. After limited production early on, the Proof series returned in 2004 following a gap after the 1989 release. The reverse of the 2009 1/10 oz Proof Gold Libertad Coin showcases Winged Victory. This figure is based on the statue atop the Mexican Independence Victory Column in Mexico City, with Winged Victory modeled after the Greek goddess Nike, who represents triumph.
