Each 2004 1 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra Coin is packaged in a protective plastic capsule. Although the mintage limit for this year was set at 300,000, final sales reached only 84,455 coins. This drop reflected a trend of lower mintages for the series in the early 2000s, with a decrease of 20,000 coins compared to the 2000 release.

The obverse of the 2004 Australian Silver Kookaburra shows Queen Elizabeth II in a right-profile portrait. This is the fifth version of the Queen’s image used on Australian coins, and she is shown wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara.

On the reverse, the coin features a kookaburra perched on a tree branch with another one flying above. Kookaburras show strong pair bonds through activities like grooming each other, protecting their territory together, and even developing special calls that are unique to each pair.
