With the Arizona Goldback Series, Goldbacks make their first appearance in the Southwest. This release honors Arizona’s layered past—Spanish exploration, Mexican independence, and eventual U.S. statehood—through detailed artwork and careful craftsmanship. Now, 100 Arizona Goldback Gold Notes are available online from BullionMax.
Note Highlights:
In the design of the 100 Arizona Goldback Gold Note, the allegorical figure Libertas stands watch as Navajo codetalkers support US Marines raising the flag at Iwo Jima. Beginning in 1942, the Marine Corps enlisted Navajo speakers to build and operate a code based on their language. Its complex structure and unique terminology—using Navajo words to represent military terms like “turtle” for tank and “iron fish” for submarine—enabled rapid, secure communication that enemy forces could not break in the Pacific Theater.
A key visual element is the red rock landscape of Window Rock, Arizona. The natural arch, carved through a large sandstone ridge, serves as the cultural and administrative center of the Navajo Nation. The 47-foot opening is an enduring symbol for the Diné people and was selected in 1936 as the location of the Navajo Nation’s capital, with government buildings situated near the sacred formation.
These 100 Arizona Goldback Gold Notes are delivered in protective currency sleeves and mark the largest denomination in the series. Earlier issues topped out at 50 Goldbacks, but in 2025 this 1/10 troy ounce note introduced the 100 Goldback denomination, giving collectors and enthusiasts a higher-value option within the program.
