Goldbacks are privately produced notes designed for voluntary local use, created by embedding a thin layer of 24-karat gold between durable sheets of polyester film. Each note features detailed artwork and contains a precisely measured fraction of physical gold. This unique approach makes Goldbacks one of the few forms of gold currency designed with small, everyday transactions in mind. The series began in Utah and has since expanded to additional states, blending the long-standing history of gold with a modern exchange format. The Idaho Goldback series is one of the newest releases and features designs inspired by the landscapes and history of the state. Right now, 1 Idaho Goldback Gold Note Sets are available at BullionMax.

Note Set Highlights:

  • Arrives in a bundle of 100 notes!
  • Special designs for the Idaho series!
  • Depicts the allegorical figure Fides!
  • Contains 1/1000 troy oz of .9999 pure gold per note (1/10 troy oz total).
  • The design shows a pioneer family’s wagon train stopped near the City of Rocks.
  • Please note that Goldbacks are NOT US legal tender.
  • UV enhancements and other advanced security features included.

Each 1 Idaho Goldback Gold Note Set available here includes a total of 100 individual notes secured together with a black bundle strap. These notes feature several security elements such as UV-reactive artwork, detailed micro-printing, and unique serial numbers on every note.

Fides was the Roman goddess connected with faith, trust, and loyalty. She held an important place in Roman culture and was among the earliest deities to receive formal public worship. Fides was often shown as a dignified woman wearing white clothing, a color traditionally linked with honesty and integrity. In artwork, she may be depicted extending her right hand to symbolize agreement or commitment, or holding items like an olive branch or ears of grain, both representing peaceful relationships and trust between people.

On the 1 Idaho Goldback Gold Note, the spirit of Fides is portrayed as a pioneer woman traveling through the Idaho frontier. She pauses along the trail with her young son while their family wagon rests nearby at the City of Rocks. This location sits in south-central Idaho near the town of Almo and is known for its striking granite formations that rise above the surrounding sagebrush plains. Tall spires, rounded domes, and large monoliths shape the landscape. In the mid-1800s, travelers along the California Trail frequently stopped here and carved their names into the rocks using axle grease from their wagons. Some of these markings can still be faintly seen today, serving as reminders of the pioneers who once passed through the area on their journey west.
