The Royal Arms have been featured on coins struck by The Royal Mint in different forms for centuries, representing the authority of the reigning monarch and the enduring history of British coinage. In 2026, The Royal Mint debuts the official Royal Arms of His Majesty King Charles III on a bullion coin for the very first time. Today, 2026 1 oz British Gold Royal Arms Coins are available from BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
The history of the British Royal Arms begins with the three golden lions on a red shield first associated with King Richard I during the late 1100s. That original design became the foundation of England’s royal heraldry and evolved over the centuries. Following the Union of the Crowns in 1603, the arms were expanded to include the Scottish lion rampant alongside the English lions, creating the quartered shield that remains a defining feature of the Royal Arms today.
All 2026 1 oz British Gold Royal Arms Coins offered here are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Individual coins are packaged in protective flips, while multiples are available in plastic tubes of 10 coins or Monster Boxes containing 100 coins.
The obverse of the 2026 British Gold Royal Arms Coin showcases the official portrait of King Charles III. Displayed in left-profile with an intricate guilloche-patterned background, the likeness was created by artist Martin Jennings and first introduced in late 2022. As is customary on modern British circulating and bullion coins, His Majesty is shown without wearing a crown.
On the reverse of the 2026 1 oz Gold Royal Arms Coin is the official Royal Arms of King Charles III. The quartered shield combines the three lions of England in the first and fourth quadrants, the red lion rampant of Scotland in the second, and the golden harp representing Ireland in the third. Supporting the shield are the crowned Lion of England, holding a banner bearing the Royal Arms, and the crowned, chained Unicorn of Scotland. These two heraldic supporters have appeared together as symbols of the united monarchy since the crowns of England and Scotland were joined in 1603.
