The American Silver Eagle is the most widely purchased silver coin in the world. When demand increases, the United States Mint has occasionally relied on facilities outside of West Point to keep up with orders for Brilliant Uncirculated coins. In 2020, staffing limitations, COVID-19 disruptions, and strong investor interest led the Philadelphia Mint to assist with emergency production. That support continued into 2021. Right now, certified 2021 (P) 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins with special Bell Labels are available at BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
Each 2021 (P) 1 oz American Silver Eagle in this listing comes housed in a protective slab with a Liberty Bell label noting its production at the Philadelphia Mint. Coins graded MS70 display full, original mint luster and no visible imperfections. First Day of Issue coins were delivered to NGC for certification within 24 hours of their original release from the mint.
The Philadelphia Mint has stepped in before to help with Silver Eagle production. In 1999 and 2000, it struck Brilliant Uncirculated Silver Eagles to support overall output. Starting in 2001, the West Point Mint handled primary production of the American Eagle series. However, when demand exceeds West Point’s capacity, other facilities contribute. During both 2020 and 2021, Philadelphia produced emergency issues to help maintain steady supply levels for the market.
On the obverse of the 2021 (P) Silver Eagle Coin is Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty design. Liberty is shown in left-profile as she walks toward the rising sun over a mountain ridge. Her right hand reaches forward, while her left arm carries branches of oak and laurel. The American flag is draped across her shoulders as she moves across the landscape.
The reverse of the 2021 (P) 1 oz American Silver Eagle features the original heraldic eagle design. Based on a concept first created in 1794 by Robert Scot, this version was updated in 1986 by John Mercanti for the Silver Eagle series. The eagle stands behind the national shield, holding arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other.
