Goldbacks are privately produced notes designed to function as a voluntary local currency. Each note is made by sealing a very thin layer of 24-karat gold between durable sheets of polyester film. The detailed artwork and precise gold content make Goldbacks a unique way to hold small amounts of gold in a format meant for everyday exchange. First introduced in Utah, the Goldback series has expanded to additional states and continues to combine precious metal ownership with a spendable note format. The newest addition is the Idaho Goldback, which features artwork inspired by the state’s history and landscape. Today, 1 Idaho Goldback Gold Notes are available online at BullionMax.
Note Highlights:
These 1 Idaho Goldback Gold Notes contain 24-karat gold and are delivered in protective plastic sleeves when purchased individually. Orders of 100 notes are shipped together in bundles secured with a black band rather than separate sleeves. Each note also includes multiple security elements such as UV-reactive details, serialized numbering, and micro-printing to help verify authenticity.
The obverse design of the 1 Idaho Goldback Gold Note features a pioneer woman representing the allegorical figure of Fides. She is shown resting with her young son while their wagon pauses along the trail near the City of Rocks. Located in south-central Idaho near the town of Almo, the City of Rocks National Reserve is known for its large granite formations that rise from the surrounding desert landscape. During the 1800s, travelers on the California Trail often stopped in this area and left their names written on the rock surfaces using axle grease. Some of those markings can still be seen today, offering a small connection to the many pioneers who passed through the region.
In ancient Roman tradition, Fides represented faith, honesty, and trust between people. She was one of the earliest deities honored by the Roman state and was often shown as a calm and dignified woman dressed in white, a color meant to reflect sincerity and purity. In many depictions she extends a hand as a sign of agreement or holds items such as olive branches or grain, both traditional symbols of peace and cooperation.
