The Perth Mint launched the Silver Kookaburra Series in 1990, making it one of the earliest bullion coin programs to highlight a native Australian animal. Since then, the series has earned a loyal following among collectors and investors for its detailed artwork, quality minting, and celebration of Australia’s wildlife. Today, the distinctive 1995 1 Kilo Proof Australian Silver Kookaburra Liberty Head Privy Coin is available at BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
This 1995 1 Kilo Proof Silver Kookaburra includes a special privy mark on the reverse of the coin. The Perth Mint added a Liberty Head privy that mirrors the well-known portrait of Liberty from the 1895 Morgan Dollar. That historic American coin was issued exactly 100 years before this Kookaburra release.
All 1995 1 Kilo Proof Australian Silver Kookaburra Liberty Head Privy Coins available here come with a protective plastic flip. Only 500 coins were struck by the Perth Mint in 1995. The use of the Liberty Head privy featuring the 1895 Morgan Dollar design appears to commemorate the 100th anniversary of that historic U.S. coin issue.
On the obverse of 1995 Proof Australian Silver Kookaburra Liberty Head Privy Coins is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This design shows the third effigy of Her Majesty used during her reign. The right-facing portrait depicts the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem and was created by artist Raphael David Maklouf.
The reverse side of the 1995 1 Kilo Proof Silver Kookaburra Liberty Head Privy Coin shows a kookaburra gliding through the air in right-profile relief. Beneath the bird in the lower-right area of the design field is the Liberty Head privy mark. The kookaburra is one of the most recognizable birds in Australia. It is a familiar national symbol and is also widely known for its unique cackling call, which is often used in films and television to represent the sounds of the wilderness.
