Goldbacks arrive in the Southwest with the debut of the Arizona Goldback Series. This lineup highlights Arizona’s varied past, from early Spanish exploration and periods of Mexican governance to statehood in the United States. Today, 5 Arizona Goldback Gold Notes are available from BullionMax.
Note Highlights:
The design of the 5 Arizona Goldback reflects the well-known events tied to the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona. Established in 1877 after prospector Ed Schieffelin found silver in the rugged southeast, Tombstone quickly became a symbol of the Old West. In the early 1880s, this “Town Too Tough to Die” grew to thousands of residents, with busy saloons, gambling halls, and theaters. Tensions between law officers and outlaw cowboys eventually led to the famous confrontation remembered as the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral.
All 5 Arizona Goldback Gold Notes ship in protective currency sleeves. The 5 Goldback denomination has been a standard across each state-based Goldback release since the program’s introduction.
For the obverse of 5 Arizona Goldback Gold Notes, the artwork shows a female gunfighter standing in Tombstone’s streets with smoke still rising from her pistol. On October 26, 1881, a thirty-second exchange near the O.K. Corral brought together the Earp brothers—Wyatt, Virgil, and Morgan—and Doc Holliday against the Clanton-McLaury group. That brief clash became one of the most recognized moments in American Western history.
